As part of the seasonal rendezvous of the 13th edition of the Rocamadour Festival, the Gouffre de Padirac welcomes the Mikrokosmos choir on the occasion of a very special music festival! An unusual rendezvous for members of the public who wish to experience the Gouffre filled with heavenly voices and with percussion with age-old sounds… an experience that is out of the ordinary.

Produced by the Rocamadour Festival, the show entitled De Profundis is a musical work that is unique of its type; it is a creation that was tailor-made by Loïc Pierre specially for the Gouffre de Padirac. Interpreted on just one occasion, on 7 August 2015, for a sensory descent into the very depths of Padirac, the ambition is to sculpt and transcend the architectural space of this bewitching place, with the help of a repertoire that blends traditional music from the four corners of the earth, a great choral repertoire, and the sudden echo of a monumental bell at the bottom of the shaft.

The concert’s exceptional nature emerges from bringing together a historic, natural place and a 40-strong mixed vocal ensemble singing a capella during the whole tour (on the approach to the shaft, along the underground galleries, and aboard the boats that navigate the river). At the very edge of fantasy, spectators are literally plunged into a space that lies outside time. Attention has been paid to the slightest details and the event is organised along very precise lines, with a few wonderful surprises being reserved for spectators.

Mikrokosmos has an international reputation and is a defender of the hexagonal choral revival; for the last 25 years, it has offered an a capella sound palette enriched with uncommon artistic adventures. With a troupe of 40 singers aged under 30, garlanded with 20 international prizes, and much in demand by film makers, the Mikrokosmos "choral laboratory" cultivates daring.
